WELCOME TO DECOTRONIX VINTAGE RADIOS!
Sixteen years ago this October a new obsession began for me, collecting vintage tube radios. Hi, my name is Dan, (aka DecoDan), and this is my website dedicated to the preservation and restoration of those timelessly designed icons of our nations growth into technology. Today everyone sees the news on television but years ago before TV became intrenched in our lives there was RADIO! Scenes from the daily news played out on the big screens in our minds eye, our imaginations. Fueled by the descriptive efforts of some of medias best announcers we could be instantly transported into the middle of the days events worldwide all while entranced by the glow of the green tuning eye on the living room console. Radio dramas took center stage in our evening home entertainment routines as the escapades of Fibber McGee and Molly, The Shadow, and The Lone Ranger were broadcast to throngs of eager listeners nationwide. The era of Big Band music brought quality orchestras like Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller into our homes and turned many a dining room into an impromptu ballroom for Mom and Dad. This was the beginning of the technological leaps and bounds that have come since. Were it not for the tube technology back then we would not have the computers you are reading this webpage on today. Radio was at the heart of it all for millions of listeners and so now you can enjoy viewing some of those historical markers of our nations history and advancements. Pull up a chair, turn on your memories and enjoy! |
