FADA 609 ART DECO BLACK MAGIC BEAUTY
High Style Art Deco simplicity is this radios personality . With a soft matte black finish, gleaming ivory plaskon knobs (from a mini Emerson CF255 Emersonette, highly collectable themselves) and its bold red FADA logo in an ultra Moderne font this little set just draws your eye right to it. A midget sized cabinet that is small enough to fit anywhere with a sharp gold dial it really stands out despite its small 6x6x9 inch footprint. The radio plays, although a bit nasal sounding, so maybe it could be a fixer upper for the technically minded collector. Priced at only $ 149.95 it can be your new favorite radio in no time at all. |
DeWALD BUTTERSCOTCH & RED F523 CLOCK RADIO
This outstanding set started out life as a plain brown bakelite set that begged for a new look, so I gave it one! With its bold graphic red and white dial markings and unusual white front grill area housing a Telechron clock with cherry red knobs I thought it would look good with a "faux" catalin look, so it got a triple coat of acrylic butterscotch and finished off in clearcoat to mimic the look of the more expensive DeWald model B512 clock radio but at a fraction of the price. Adding a red grill cloth for the top mounted speaker opening sets the theme off well and draws attention to this unusual set. Sadly, the radio does not play but the clock runs and this would be an opportunity for the technician in you to have the fun of applying your experience to the chassis to complete the radio to its original operating condition . If nothing else this is a real attention grabber from across the room and will draw your eyes to any location you put it in. SOLD!

GENERAL ELECTRIC H-510 IVORY PLASKON
Clean as a whistle and playing great with new filter caps and line cord this is the GE "Turbine" with pushbutton tuning. Not often seen and highly sought after due to its unusual Art Deco design, this sweet little set has all of its original GE tubes and only has one major flaw in that it has a severe crack running across the left side of the cabinet that has been glued solidly with Permabond cyanoacrylate to keep it from compromising the structural integrity of the cabinet. There are also a couple spots which show stress fractures but they are minimal and not objectionable as the photo shows. It looks great sitting on the shelf and will be a great addition to your collection. Priced at only $ 189.95 you can inject some Turbine power into your radio display today!

WESTINGHOUSE CANADIAN ROSIE THE ROBOT
Jane! Get me off this crazy thing! That was the cry of George Jetson who always called for his wife but who came to the rescue? His trusty robot maid Rosie! This super clean Canadian Westinghouse 578 was made in 1946 but was years ahead of its time in design and has a personality all its own. The simple yet eye catching cabinet really stands out in the crowd done up in a satin finish neon yellow with red grill and it really does look like Rosie. An unusual and not often seen set perfect to spark up that collection of mild mannered brown radios. SOLD! |
